The Manitoba Gambling Helpline

In any month of the year, from a Monday in January to a Saturday in August, free help with gambling is one phone call away. The Gambling Helpline is confidential and answers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

One number, every day

On a winter evening, a summer afternoon or at midnight on any night of the year, the Gambling Helpline answers at 1-800-463-1554. A call is free and confidential. The line is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, through all four seasons of the year.

Shared Health runs the line. Its former name was the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba. Besides the line, Shared Health also offers free counselling.

For a local call, the province also lists a 24-hour number for the same line: 204-944-6382. Both are phone numbers. The guide lists no text or chat option for the Gambling Helpline. A phone call is the way in.

Self-exclusion and its reach

MBLL Voluntary Self-Exclusion can cover the Casinos of Winnipeg and the Shark Club Gaming Centre, PlayNow.com, or all of these. Signed in person, it bars entry to Club Regent Casino and its Event Centre, McPhillips Station Casino, Shark Club and future MBLL gambling facilities. It also blocks PlayNow. South Beach Casino & Resort and Assiniboia Downs are not named in it.

Terms run a minimum of 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or 3 years. Only the person can enrol themselves, in person with casino staff or by calling 204-957-2500 ext. 8468 for an off-site appointment. During the term, that person is responsible for honouring it, and money lost is not returned. To end it after the term, the person completes the free Pause and Plan course and sends a written request.

The Ad links on this guide's home page lead to a private online casino. MBLL Voluntary Self-Exclusion does not cover it, and it is not PlayNow.

Beyond the Gambling Helpline, two more lines are listed. The Manitoba Addictions Helpline is 1-855-662-6605. For Indigenous people, the Hope for Wellness Helpline is 1-855-242-3310, open 24/7 on any day of the calendar.

At two Winnipeg casinos, Informed Gambling Advisors work on site. At Club Regent Casino, the number is 204-985-0419. At McPhillips Station Casino, it is 204-985-1240. Both casinos keep the same floor hours all year, opening at 10 AM daily.

Can a family member enrol someone in self-exclusion?

MBLL Voluntary Self-Exclusion does not allow it. Only the person can enrol themselves, in person with casino staff or through an off-site appointment.

Is money lost during self-exclusion returned?

Money lost during self-exclusion is not returned. The player is responsible for honouring the exclusion for the whole term.
